pt.II – Choreographie der Weltordnung
experimentelle Sound Collage & Forschungsprojekt

pt. II – choreographic world order
experimental sound collage & research project

Part II of the project collects various positions on the perception of reality and world from people working in the field of dance and performance.
The talks follow a loose questionnaire. Linking the interviews to choroegraphic and dramaturgic approa- ches each single sentence of the interviews can be shuffled and therefore creates new narrative view- points on orders of reality and world.

pt. I – TV newscast in the context of choreography, dramaturgy and embodied narratives of reality
performative video installation

Videoclips from 12 months of TV newscast were examined for signs of humanity, which basically could be found in the pure physical existence and coexistence of presenters and presented ones.
Human body movements in the clips have been undergoing a performative intervention by applying choreographic scores onto the sequences. Also sounds were reproduced matching the original physical expression. By this intervention what is being presented as reality is highly deconstructed and made available for discussions of transformation.

Videocollage / Installation

Konzept, Material, Montage, Installation: Maria Katharina Kerndle

video collage / installation

The origin of the project is an old TV version of the fairytale Mother Hulda.

Magnetized by the almost psychedelically colourful scenography and the stereotypical play the fairtale was directly filmed with an old mobile phone. The technical disparity of the two devices created highly flickering pictures that also interrupted the spoken, which in the artistic montage produced a welcome incongruence in meaning.

performative feministische Videocollage, 2:40 min.

performative feminist videocollage, 2:40 min.

On the occasion of the worldwide women ́s day women* and girls* were invited to come and just show their presence through sounds and movements, not very commonly represented in media otherwise. The sounds of the sequences were mixed together to a rhythmic soundtrack and the videos pop up when the sound appears, densifying powerful feminist presence.

Videoperformance, 33 Sek.

Was wird gesehen? Bin es ich? Was ist ich? Wer hat was gesehen?

videoperformance, 33 sec.

A 33 seconds long media experiment questioning the inscriptions of an object´s connotation on the body wearing the object.
What can be seen? Is it me? What is me? Who has seen what?

During a very short time the person in the video is changing the appearance by adding or dropping masks which are referring partly to political topics, but should also be revealed as simple objects.

Objects with various connotations are mixed within one and the same appearance of the person. The camera´s focus is on the person, but the person stares back to the camera while changing the outward appearance. By displaying the convertibiliy the person resists any determined interpretation of who or what might be seen.

in Koop. mit Soulosophy, DanceClass Youth/Tanz die Toleranz, Queens of Style
Performance, 30 min.

performance / videoperformance, 5 min.

High Culture Festival Time in the city of Salzburg. Many elegant figures strolling around, what does not fit into the image of the city is banned by spatial policies.

The performance is taking up the elegant appearance but breaks with expectations. The metaphor of seeing something in black and white is the base for bursting into unusual behaviour – the person dressed only in black and white entering the black and white painted chess field collapses into the unexpected. An experimental alienation of social codes and perception.

The video is showing the performance in blurry slowmotion, foregrounding movement and colour.
